[…] Peppercorn Press […]

Much time had passed between the time I named this blog, to the time I actually knew what this blog would be about.
I had tidbits in my mind, and an inkling.
At first, I wanted to create beautiful printed products. But even more, I knew I wanted to write for young women living in our Western cultures. And for that matter, for young women living in all the other cultures of this world.
But what was my heart trying to say? What did my heart want me to say?
I had to be quiet and listen – for a long time.
But little by little the elements came to me:
I wanted to bring femininity back. I wanted to reclaim femininity. The beauty of it. The original design for it.
I wanted to be a voice of grounding wisdom, and of soundness, to young women living in a culture that bombards their susceptible minds with messages which only serve to shipwreck their God-given potential. Messages that push them in a direction to cause them to circumvent God’s destiny of blessing for their lives.
The same way that modern cultural messages caused me to shipwreck my life.
I wanted to write for all the Alma’s of this world. (My given name is Alma Linda. Alma is Spanish for “soul.” Linda is Spanish for “pretty” or “beautiful.”)
I wanted to write for the beautiful souls of young girls who were looking for a foundation to stand on, when the culture and the media were telling them that the world works a particular way, when it does not.
I wanted to write for souls being pushed to make decisions about their bodies, about their sexuality – under the guise of freedom – when they were actually being lulled into snares that had been set out to bring about bondage, and their destruction.
And I wanted to reintroduce young women to the beauty, the treasure, of their God-designed femininity.
Yes, women have equal value to men. But women are not created as men, to be male. Nor masculine.
We are created to be different. On purpose.
We are soft. And tender. We are full of emotion. We desire connection.
And . . .
we are breakable.
When we live our lives as the media and popular culture dictates that we should – we can break.
Too many of us are already broken.
It is my hope, it is my prayer, that this blog will serve as a lighthouse. That this blog may serve to steer you from deceptively tantalizing, but life-destroying shores.
And may it also to serve, as a healing post to those who have already run aground and can carry on no longer.
The dictionary’s definition for “Press” is as follows:
VERB
NOUN
The “Press” in Pink Peppercorn Press is all of the above.
Whether this publication be in the form of pressure, or a pushing, against the harmful messages of our culture, or a raising of Godly standards, let hope be pressed forth. And let hope be printed!
Because for each of us there is still hope. And there is healing.
It is my prayer that you find both, here, within these pages.
Amen!
